The endoscope has image sensors (2,3) which are arranged side by side at the distal end (1) of a flexible or rigid cylindrical hollow structure (4), to convert an optical signal into an electrical signal. The evaluation device (9) receives and converts electrical signals into visualized data via signal lines (5,7). A three-dimensional image indicating monitor (12) displays visualizable data as separate images or as overlapping three-dimensional images (13,14).
