Extension units are connected to HA terminals which are control terminals for equipment provided at residences. The device body of the monitoring control device is equipped with a first interface for communication with mobile terminals through a public network, a second interface for wireless communication with the extension units, and a signal conversion unit for converting signal formats between the first interface and the second interface. The mobile terminal is a mobile-phone unit which has the functions of an information terminal and is provided with a secondary battery serving as a power source. The device body also serves as a charger for charging the secondary battery of the mobile terminal.
