<p>Disclosed is a method for multicast protection, comprising: a main link and a backup link are configured for the pseudowire (PW) between an upstream provider edge device (PE) and a downstream PE; the downstream PE and the upstream PE each establish a transmission-multiprotocol label switching (T-MPLS) multicast forwarding table; the upstream PE transmits to the downstream PE an acquired multicast data message via the main and backup links simultaneously, and the downstream PE, in accordance with the T-MPLS multicast forwarding table, forwards to a corresponding customer edge device (CE) the multicast data message received via the main link, and discards the multicast data message received via the backup link; and, when the main link fails, the downstream PE performs a switch between the main and backup links and then forwards to the CE the multicast data message received via the backup link. Also provided is a system for multicast protection. According to the technical solution as put forth in the present invention, normal transmission of multicast services is ensured even when a link in the T-MPLS network fails.</p> |
