<p>Provided is a planar light source device employed in a stereoscopic display device, wherein the difference in perceived intensity between the right eye and the left eye (contrast difference) and the difference in perceived emitted light intensity on the screen (non-uniform brightness, etc.) is reduced. A left-side light source (23a) and a right-side light source (23b) are positioned respectively at opposite light input end faces of a light guiding plate (22). An output pattern (25a) for outputting light emitted by the left-side light source (23a) from a light output face (26), and an output pattern (25b) for outputting light emitted by the right-side light source (23b) from the light output face (26), are formed on the rear face of the light guiding plate (22). With the peak intensity of light outputted from the end part of the light emission region on the side of the left-side light source (23a) (right-side light source (23b)) when the left-side light source (23a) is switched on designated Ia1 (Ia2), and the peak intensity of light emitted from the end part of the light emission region on the side of the left-side light source (23a) (right-side light source (23b)) when the right-side light source (23b) is switched on designated Ib1 (Ib2), then Ia1 > Ib1 (Ia2 < Ib2).</p> |
