<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a trace device using a dot pattern capable of defining code information or XY coordinate information even for an extremely small area. <P>SOLUTION: A trace device comprises: a touch panel with a transparent film provided with a dot pattern on which dots are arranged according to a predetermined regulation based on dot-code generation algorithm for recognizing various kinds of multimedia information; and reading means for capturing image data on the dot pattern of the touch panel.
