<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water temperature sensor failure determining device capable of detecting the presence of failure occurrence of a water temperature sensor by monitoring warming-up performance of an engine upon the cold starting. <P>SOLUTION: The failure determining device of a water temperature sensor 18 which detects the temperature of cooling water 12 passing through the engine 1 includes a control device 19 which inputs a detection signal 18a from the water temperature sensor 18, monitors a temperature rise of the cooling water 12 on the cold starting, integrates a fuel injection amount of the engine 1 from the start starting and, when a measurement value of temperature rise width of the cooling water 12 when the fuel injection amount reaches the prescribed integration value does not exceed the threshold, determines the failure of the water temperature sensor 18, wherein the temperature rise width when the fuel injection amount of the engine 1 from the starting start under full open conditions of a thermostat 16 reaches the prescribed integration value is established as the threshold. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
