<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protection member that can prevent damages caused by foreign matter such as a rail or a guide, and to provide a guide device, a drive device, a mold clamping device, and an injection device. <P>SOLUTION: The guide device 35 used for the mold clamping device 13 has a rail 61, a guide 62 moving along the rail 61; and an opening 67 through which the rail 61 can be inserted and which is formed along the outer periphery of the rail 61 and which comes closer to an upper surface and both side faces of a rail 61, and the protection member 63 which has a side face having a predetermined angle relative to the longitudinal direction of the rail 61 and can move along the rail 61 along with the movement of the guide 62. The protection member 63 can also be provided to a drive device.
