The disclosed vehicle AC generator is provided with a rotationally driven rotor, a stator (4) which has multiple slots (210) provided with coils (5) and which, separated by a gap, is arranged across from the outer circumference of the rotor, and plate-form magnetic members (212) provided so as to close the openings (210a) of the slots (210). In the circumferential direction of the stator, the width dimension of the opening (210a) is greater than the width dimension of the coils (5) inserted into the slots (210).
