<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide apparatus for the treatment of congestive heart failure, renal disease, hypertension and/or other cardio-renal diseases via renal neuromodulation and/or denervation. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for renal neuromodulation includes a catheter having an expansible distal section constituted to be percutaneously arranged in the renal artery of a subject. The expansible distal section includes at least one electrode and is configured to be brought into contact with the inner surface of the wall of the renal artery when expanded. The at least one electrode supplies to the renal nerve of the subject, at least one among a pulse electric field, a thermal high frequency current, a non-thermal high frequency current, a thermal direct current, a non-thermal direct current, and an electrostimulation waveform, to reduce the generation of a nerve signal in a renal nerve at the proximity of the renal artery. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
