<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic probe which solves the problem that it is typical to require at least 128 sending/receiving lines (one per each converter) for driving the 128 converters, as a result, an ultrasonic operator has to fight with the cable in order to position and operate a probe head. <P>SOLUTION: A hand-held ultrasound probe system includes integrated electronics within an ergonomic housing. The electronics include control circuitry, beamforming circuitry, and transducer drive circuitry.
