Provided are a method and device for automatic classification of applications in a mobile terminal. The method includes: acquiring classification attribute information from a configuration file of an application in the mobile terminal; adding the application in the mobile terminal into an application set with the classification thereof corresponding to the classification attribute information of the application in the mobile terminal. The embodiments of the present invention can achieve the automatic classification of applications in the mobile terminal and simplify the installation of the application.
