4-VINYLGUAIACOL POLYMERIC COMPOUND AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING PHARMACEUTICALLY ACCEPTABLE SALT OF THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently and safely producing a 4-vinylguaiacol polymeric compound having excellent anticancer activity, and to provide an anticancer agent containing the compound as an effective ingredient.

SOLUTION: The production method of the 4-vinylguaiacol polymeric compound expressed by formula (1) includes heat-treating ferulic acid under alkaline conditions. There are also provided anticancer agents, foods and pharmaceutical products containing the above compound or its pharmaceutically acceptable salts.
