<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric field sensor which does not generate dispersion in sensitivity characteristics due to deviation of an operating point even when the sensor is used in a state of no bias adjustment. <P>SOLUTION: An electric field sensor includes: a pair of optical waveguides having respectively different lengths; two 3 dB optical couplers respectively connected to the light incident side and the light emission side of the pair of optical waveguides; an optical input port and an optical output port respectively connected to the two 3 dB optical couplers; an MZ interference circuit having an electric line formed on one optical waveguide; optical input means for inputting light to the pair of optical waveguides; RF signal receiving means for inputting light to the electric line of the MZ interference circuit; optical detection means for detecting an optical output outputted from the MZ interference circuit; and adjustment means for adjusting light to be inputted from the optical input means to the MZ interference circuit to a determined wavelength, to change a phase difference of emission beams emitted from the pair of optical waveguides by generating an electrooptical effect in a received RF signal, and an optical detector measures the output of the RF signal by detecting the phase difference of beams emitted from the pair of optical waveguides. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
