<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical modulation device and a projector excellent in use efficiency of light. <P>SOLUTION: An optical modulation device for modulating an incoming light beam to form an image has a constitution in which a modulation unit 80A is provided to each of pixels constituting the image. The modulation unit 80A includes a shutter 88 configured to be movable to a first position for transmitting the incoming light beam or a second position for shielding the incoming light beam, and a circuit unit 86 and an electrode unit 87 for moving the shutter 88 to the first position or the second position. The shutter 88 includes charging units 91 to 94 being charged. Driving means includes transparent electrodes E1 to E4 for generating electrostatic force with the charging units 91 to 94, and moves the shutter 88 to the first position or the second position by the electrostatic force. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
