PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intuitive and easy-to-understand user interface for slide show reproduction setting.

SOLUTION: Similarity between input images is evaluated from the image feature amount of each input image. A plurality of input images are classified into a plurality of classes in such a manner that mutually resembling input images are classified into a common class. By the division of a display screen into four sections with boundary lines along the vertical direction, four class display areas are set in the display screen. The plurality of input images (301-308) are arrayed and displayed so that an input image belonging to an i-th class is displayed in an i-th class display area. A user specifies an input image to be selected for a target image, while looking at the display screen.
