<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easy-to-maintain apparatus and a method for crushing a battery, preventing ignition and firing, and corrosion of the apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for crushing the battery includes a crushing part 21 which crushes the battery, a water pouring machine 40 which pours cooling water on the crushing part 21 and the battery B, and a water tank 30 in which a crushed battery B is stored. Even when the crushed battery B generates heat by short circuit, the battery B is cooled by the cooling water to prevent firing. Even when an organic solvent included in the battery B sticks to the crushing part 21, the organic solvent can be washed out to prevent firing of the organic solvent. Thus even when the battery B fires, fire can be immediately extinguished. The apparatus hardly corrodes and is easily maintained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
