<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the luminance of a black displayed on a plasma display panel by performing stable writing operation without performing forced initializing operation and by reducing the luminance of a tone lower next to that of the black, to stably generate a write discharge when a display image switches from a black image to an ordinary image. <P>SOLUTION: One field includes a first type subfield that generates sustaining pulses of the number corresponding to a luminance weight during a sustaining period and applies the same to a pair of display electrodes, and a second type subfield that generates a rising waveform voltage and a falling waveform voltage without generating sustaining pulses during sustaining period and applies the same to a scanning electrode. The second type subfield is configured as a subfield which has the smallest luminance weight. When an image to be displayed on the plasma display panel fulfills a predetermined condition, a subfield having the smallest luminance weight is forcibly turned on at a predetermined lighting ratio. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
