The invention relates to a climbing hold signalling device, comprising an element for fixing to a climbing wall or an element to be integrated with a climbing hold, a housing (9) comprising a lamp (11) connected to an autonomous electricity supply (13) and a switch (15) for lighting or switching off the lamp while the housing is connected to the element in a fixed position on the climbing wall. The device comprises a unique identifier (19) associated with the hold device so as to single out the hold device from a plurality of hold devices and the switch is designed to be actuated by a remote control and only to accept actuation orders originating from the remote control comprising the identifier. A climbing wall system comprises a plurality of climbing hold signalling devices as indicated above and a control means comprising a human-machine interface and a remote control for the hold devices.
