A communication system (10) includes a backbone-side transceiving device (12) connected to a terrestrial backbone (14), a remote transceiving device (16) connected to a set of subscriber communication devices (20) of a plurality of subscribers, and a satellite (18) to communicate with the backbone-side transceiving device (12) and a remote transceiving device (16). Data is transferred between the terrestrial backbone (14) and the set of subscriber communication devices (20) through the backbone transceiving device (12), the satellite (18), and the remote transceiving device (16). Both the backbone-side transceiving device (12) and the remote transceiving device (16) are configured for enforcing rules, on a per subscriber basis, on the traffic at these devices (12, 16). The invention also relates to communication devices, methods and computer programs used in the context of such a communication architecture.
