PURPOSE: An apparatus and method recognizing the walking condition using an inertia sensor are provided to effectively control the operation of a motor inside a robot used as a walking aid device for pedestrians. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus recognizing the walking condition using an inertia sensor includes a signal receiving unit, a signal analysis processing unit(320), and a signal recognition unit(330). The signal receiving unit receives signals transmitted from a sensor circuit unit. The signal analysis processing unit extracts features based on the signals. The signal recognition unit sets a pattern corresponding to the extracted features based on the features from the signal analysis processing unit.
