INSOLUBILIZING AGENT FOR SOIL CONTAMINATED WITH HEAVY METALS OR THE LIKE, AND INSOLUBILIZATION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insolubilizing agent which is greatly improved in known adsorption performance of a zirconium compound to the ions of heavy metals and is excellent in dispersibility into the soil contaminated with the heavy metals, water permeability and durability under acidic or alkaline environment, and to provide an embankment-insolubilizing method excellent in constructability and economical efficiency using the insolubilizing agent for effectively using a contaminated soil excavated from a tunnel or underground for the embankment of road or bank.

SOLUTION: The insolubilizing agent for soils contaminated with the heavy metals comprises generating fine zirconium hydroxide having high activity by adding slaked lime and water to zirconium oxychloride in the presence of mineral particles comprising diatom earth as a main component. The insolubilization method for soils contaminated with heavy metals includes composing embankment by using the insolubilizing agent as a bottom soil on the bottom of embankment and laying the contaminated soil on the upper part of the bottom soil.
