Disclosed is a method for travel assistance comprising: extracting itinerary information from contents saved in a terminal (S101); saving the extracted itinerary information to an itinerary list (S102); selecting itinerary information from the itinerary list, automatically connecting to a preset network address or a preset server address, using each selected itinerary information item in whole or in part as a keyword to perform a search, and acquiring assistance information corresponding to the itinerary information (S103); and generating advisory information (S104). Correspondingly, also disclosed is a terminal. In the invention, a terminal automatically provides effective reference information to the user on the basis of the itinerary of the user, thereby solving the problem of complex and time-consuming operations when the user uses the terminal to acquire itinerary-related assistance information.
