<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toilet seat supporting system in which high reliability is exhibited in a simple structure and cost can be reduced in a manually openable/closable toilet seat. <P>SOLUTION: The toilet seat 4 is fixed to one end part of a toilet seat braking shaft 30 and a toilet seat independence mechanism 40 is coaxially arranged in the other end of the same. A rotary type damper 80 is arranged in an juxtaposing state to the toilet seat braking shaft 30, the rotation of the toilet seat braking shaft 30 is transmitted to a damper 80 via a damper driving gear 31 and a damper input shaft 81.
