The device (2) has side recovering and reinforcing units i.e. side recovering and reinforcing wings (4, 6), to cover and reinforce portions of a stapling line extending beyond a stapling circle, where the device is formed from calcium alginate textile i.e. calcium alginate knitting, and is in the form of a ring to cover and reinforce a sutured tissue area along the stapling circle. Notches are located in a peripheral part of the ring and arranged at the right of the circle. The notches form discontinuity in the reinforcement of the sutured area to assure flexibility of the sutured area.
