An electrically powered vessel with a charging unit uses AC or DC electric motors to power propellers 1 or an electrically powered water jet engine as an electric power unit to move the vessel forward. The electric power units need large lithium batteries to power them. Water turbines having blades 6 which rotate by the flow of water 5 as the vessel moves forward are used to produce rotational mechanical energy and the turbines have a power converter to convert the rotational mechanical energy produced into electricity to charge the electric lithium batteries, which in turn power the electric power unit. The electrics may be housed in a water-tight container 3 in the hull 4 of the vessel and earthed, with a cut-off switch for the purposes of safety in the event of leakage of water into the hull of the vessel. |
