PURPOSE: An optical film is provided to improve transparency and strength, to show optical anisotropy, not to obstruct the orientation of the liquid crystal material, and to reduce manufacture faults. CONSTITUTION: An optical film is formed from a gel liquid crystal composition. The gel liquid crystal composition comprises a compound containing a structure of chemical formula 1 and a liquid crystal material. In chemical formula 1, R^1 and R^2 are independently C1~C30 alkyl, C1~C30 alkoxy, -H, -OH, -OSiR^3R^4-, or halogen; hexagonal ring H is phenylene in which X and Y is substituted at a 1,4- or 1,2-position or cyclohexylene in which X and Y is substituted at a 1,4- or 1,3- or 1,2-position; Y is -C(=O)NR^3- or -NR^3C(=O)-; and X is -(CE2)p-, -(CE2)pL-, -(CE2)pL(CJ2)q-, or -(CE2)pL(CJ2)qL-.
