[Also in Division B5] A device for treating thermoplastic synthetic materials comprises a heated funnel-shaped container 3 provided with means for producing a trickle flow of the charged material and supplying it to a plasticizing screw 1, and suction means 12 for degassing the charge connected to the upper portion of the container. In Fig. 1 material is fed to the container 3 from a hopper 14 and a screw 5 rotates so as to feed the material upwardly, an annular gap 7 being left through which the charge can trickle downwardly. In Fig. 2 (not shown) the hopper opening is disposed vertically above the apex of a cone within the container. A rotary distributor is disposed in the hopper opening. The cone and container are double-walled for heating purposes.
