<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing machine and an ink supply method of the printing machine which enable appropriate ink supply at a printing start and early stabilization of a printing density and thereby enable reduction of the amount of spoilage at the printing start. <P>SOLUTION: A rotary printing machine 1 is equipped with an ink supply arrangement 21 which supplies ink K to a printing plate 16 mounted on the surface of a plate cylinder 17 and with an ink supply control part 50 provided with an ink supply starting mode wherein the cylinder is set at the moment when a predetermined operation speed is reached and wherein the operation of an ink fountain roller 39 is started after a predetermined time passes. This mode has an inking mode M wherein an ink key 41 is set at an approximately fixed predetermined degree of opening and a predetermined amount of thickness of an ink film is formed beforehand on a group of ink rollers and an early-stage supply mode N wherein the ink fountain roller 39 is driven to rotate for a predetermined time before the cylinder is set, on the basis of a degree S of opening of the ink key set corresponding to a pattern on the printing plate 16.
