Press felts for papermaking include a batt fiber layer (151,152) and a base fabric (110). The batt fiber layer (151,152) is integrated into the base fabric (110). The base fabric (110) includes a ground warp yarn (121,122), a ground weft yarn (131), and an additional warp yarn (141). The ground warp yarn (121,122) and the ground weft yarn (131) include monofilament yarns, and the additional warp yarn (141) includes a material different from a material forming the ground warp yarn. The additional warp yarn (141) is arranged so that, when the base fabric (110) is viewed in cross-section in a warp yarn direction, the additional warp yarn (141) ascends toward a wet paper web-side surface of the base fabric and descends toward a roll-side surface of the base fabric, relative to the at least one ground warp yarn (121,122).
