[Also in Division E2] The inner race of a bearing 11 is secured on a shaft 10 by a frusto-conical wedge 13 which is drawn into a complementary bore 12 in the shaft to expand the latter. As shown the wedge 13 is drawn into the bore 12 by tightening a screw 14 which passes through a bore in the wedge and engages a threaded bore 15 in the shaft. In Fig. 2 (not shown) the screw (14x) passes through a bore in the shaft (10x) and engages a threaded bore in the wedge (13x). The wedge is prevented from rotating by a radially projecting pin (16) engaging a slot (17) in the shaft. |
