The method involves reading the device information from the machine-readable codes (4) of built-in devices (3) in switchgear cabinet (1). The read device information are stored in a memory. The device information is comprised of device serial number, device model information and/or manufacture identification of the built-in device. A portion of the stored device information is outputted through output unit. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) system for determining information of built-in device of switchgear cabinet; and (2) computer program product for determining information of built-in device of switchgear cabinet.
