A pressure-reducing valve for maintaining a constant ratio between the inlet and outlet pressures comprises a differential hollow piston 14, 15, Fig. 1 (not shown), co-operating at its smaller end with a valve seat 34 to control the flow from inlet 32 to outlet 45 through a space on the downstream side of the seat and thence through the hollow piston. The end of the smaller diameter piston is recessed to provide an annular closure rim 27. The seat is a resilient washer held by an inlet fitting 31. The piston is sealed by 0-rings, or in a modification, by U-section packings of which one is stationary and carried by the valve body.</p> |
