PURPOSE: A video display device and an operation method thereof are provided to prevent a backlight turn-on section from being overlapped in a left-eye image display and a right-eye image display. CONSTITUTION: A formatter arranges an inputted three-dimensional image into a left-eye image and a right-eye image. A display device(180) includes a plurality of backlight lamps in a rear side of a display panel. The display device displays the left-eye image and the right-eye image. The display device is synchronized with the eye image and the right-eye image. The display device turns on a part of the backlight lamp.
