PURPOSE: An electronic device for transcoding a multimedia content file and a method thereof are provided to transcode a multimedia content file by interworking the reception of a multimedia content file. CONSTITUTION: A receiving unit(201a) receives a multimedia content file having a first file format. A transcoding unit(205) transcode a part of the received multimedia content file into a second file format. A controlling unit(207) controls the receiving unit and the transcoding unit. The controlling unit controls the transcoding unit in order to perform the transcoding of the multimedia content file in parallel.
