PURPOSE: An electromagnet brake for a vehicle and a control method thereof are provided to prevent the friction noise of a brake and capable to use the components of a brake semi-permanently by braking through generating braking power non-contact type by using a rotor and a stator. CONSTITUTION: An electromagnet brake(100) for a vehicle comprises a drum(110), a rotor(120), a stator(130), and a control unit(140). The rotor is coupled with the inner circumference of the drum and rotated with the drum. The rotor has magnetic force. The stator is fixed in an axle(10) of a vehicle and located in a rotor. Attraction is generated between the rotor and stator in case of power is supplied. The stator generates the repulsive force in a rotational direction of the drum.
