An oxygen-air supply device for, breathing apparatus, to mix air with the oxygen obtained from a demand regulator, is mounted on the demand regulator 3 and comprises a circular flat plate 1 having on one face a shallow recess 7 communicating with five peripheral nozzles 15 which open to a circular air-containing groove 10 and five radial ducts 12. On inhaling at the outlet 6, a pressure change passes through a duct 29 to a diaphragm 4 and causes the oxygen from a supply 39 to pass via a conduit 40 to the recess 7 and thence to issue from the nozzles 15 into the radial ducts 12 while mixing with the supply of air induced from the circular groove 10. The oxygen-air mixture then passes to a central recess 9 open to the ducts 12 and is available to the outlet 6. A by-pass valve sensitive to excess pressure of oxygen in the recess 7 communicates with the outlet 6 and the supply of air available to the groove 10 is obtained through a one-way valve and a valve sensitive to atmospheric pressure. In a modification (Fig. 7 not shown), radial ducts 12 supply air to a central oxygen supply nozzle and the air-oxygen mixture obtained is passed through further radial ducts to the final outlet.</p> |
