1,020,868. Contacting a gas with a liquid. SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. Sept. 25, 1962 [Sept. 29, 1961], No. 35299/61. Heading B1R. [Also in Division F2] A gas/liquid contact tray has passages 4 for the upward flow of gas each passage having a valve comprising a plate 1, Fig. 2, adapted to be over the gas passage and a downwardly extending guide member 2 with a stop 5 to limit upward movement of the valve, the guide member being so constructed that in its fully open position the passage is unobstructed by the plate. The guide member may be formed integrally with the plate by forming two parallel slits in a flat rectangular piece of sheet metal and bending the tongue thus formed to shape. Alternatively the guide member may be separate from the valve plate and secured in the gas passage, Fig. 10 (not shown), and have an upwardly extending arm 29 and an arcuate arm 27 engaging within a longitudinal slot in the valve plate.
|
