PURPOSE: An anti-hyperglycemic and anti-obesity composition containing polygamma-glutamic acid and catechin gallate is provided to suppress the saccharide intestinal absorption using the catechin gallate in green tea. CONSTITUTION: An anti-hyperglycemic and anti-obesity composition contains polygamma-glutamic acid and a green tea extract containing catechin gallate. The catechin gallate controls the saccharide absorption inside intestines, and increases the blood sugar in the blood. The polygamma-glutamic acid is a polymer suppressing the blood absorption of the catechin gallate, and has the molecular weight of 1-2,000kDa. An anti-hyperglycemic pharmaceutical composition contains the polygamma-glutamic acid, the green tea extract containing the catechin gallate, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
