Apparatus for detecting multi vehicle using laser scanner sensor and method thereof

PURPOSE: A device for detecting multi vehicle using laser scanner sensor and a method thereof are provided to prevent entering of restricted vehicle into shadow areas by applying a shadow region avoidance model. CONSTITUTION: A device for detecting multi vehicle using laser scanner sensor comprises a vehicles location perception part, a shadow region sensor, a forecasting unit, and a controlling unit. The vehicles location perception part senses location and heading information about control vehicles(10a,10b) by using sensors(100a). The sensors are respectively arranged in both sides of a road within a local detection region. The shadow region sensor calculates the shadow region based on vehicle location and type information. The forecasting unit predicts the shadow region followed by vehicle location after certain hours. In case other restricted vehicle tries to enter into the shadow region, the controller outputs speed control command in order to reduce speed of the other restricted vehicle.
