The method involves acquiring an electrical signal (A) corresponding to vibratory oscillations of an engine (8), where the electrical signal is acquired by an accelerometer sensor (10). The electrical signal is converted into electrical power and stored, where the electric power is stored in a capacitor (16). A battery (20) is charged using the stored electrical power, where the battery is charged with the stored electrical power when charge level of the battery is less than predetermined threshold that corresponds to full load of the battery. An independent claim is also included for a vehicle comprising a control unit.
