OPTICAL CHARACTERISTICS MEASURING DEVICE AND METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To promptly and accurately measure the optical characteristics of an optical film of a wide area.

SOLUTION: An optical film 12 which is a measuring object is placed on a surface illuminating portion 14. The surface illuminating portion 14 projects circular polarization toward the optical film 12. When the optical film 12 moves in an X-direction, measurement pixels E on the optical film 12 successively pass through a first to a forth imaging areas of a CCD camera in an imaging portion 15. The CCD camera images the measurement pixels E several times when the measurement pixels E pass through each imaging area. A value calculated by adding output values obtained by several imaging is made to be a measurement value in the imaging area. Stokes parameters of the measurement pixels E are calculated by the measurement values in the four imaging areas. The stokes parameters are obtained about all measurement pixels E on the optical film 12.
