Disclosed are a method and a system for service processing. In both, a corresponding multicast stream from an upper layer network can be introduced by a backup broadband network gateway (BNG) device on the basis of user multicast group information synchronized from a master BNG device; the multicast stream introduced is transmitted directly to a user by the backup BNG device upon the occurrence of a switchover between the master and the backup BNG devices. In the method and the system of the present invention, for video or other digital services, employment of the backup BNG device for a synchronized introduction of the multicast stream corresponding to the user multicast group reduces the duration of interruption caused by the switchover between the master and the backup BNG devices, thereby achieving an effect of the instant resumption of the user multicast stream at the same time as the switchover takes place between the master and the backup BNG devices. This reduces greatly or even eliminates user perception of the interruption to the video service, thereby enhancing the user experience and at the same time improving brand image in video service for the operator.
