The electronic sphygmomanometer for obtaining blood pressure values on the basis of changes in internal cuff pressure during the pressure decrease process computes and obtains blood pressure values as estimated values during the pressure increase process (ST5). If said estimated values are within a prescribed range of standard values previously defined to indicate hypertension (YES in ST7), said estimated values are displayed as measured values (ST8) and actions are terminated without performing the subsequent internal pressure regulation of the pressure decrease process.
