<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of defrosting an outdoor heat exchanger while continuing heating operation. <P>SOLUTION: In the air conditioner 300, a flow path switching valve 51 has a switching mechanism for switching a flow path to any one mode selected from a first mode, a second mode, and a third mode. The first mode is a mode for allowing a coolant introduced through an expansion valve 7 to flow into both of a first outdoor heat exchange unit 46a and a second outdoor heat exchange unit 46b. The second mode is a mode for allowing the coolant introduced through the expansion valve 7 to flow into the first outdoor heat exchange unit 46a and a coolant introduced through a bypass passage 61 to flow into the second outdoor heat exchange unit 46b. The third mode is a mode for allowing the coolant introduced through the expansion valve 7 to flow into the second outdoor heat exchange unit 46b and the coolant introduced through the bypass passage 61 to flow into the first outdoor heat exchange unit 46a. When a defrosting operation is to be carried out, a control unit 8 switches the flow path switching valve 51 to the second mode or the third mode and sets an on-off valve 71 of the bypass passage 61 in an open state.
