<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing device that properly corrects luminance without complicated processing. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing device includes: an illumination component estimation unit 120 for calculating an estimated illumination component of an original image; an estimated illumination component correction unit 130 for outputting a corrected estimated illumination component obtained by correcting the estimated illumination component; a Retinex processing unit 140 for correcting a luminance component by dividing the luminance component of the original image by the corrected estimated illumination component; and a gain adjustment unit for adjusting a gain of the corrected luminance component. The estimated illumination component correction unit converts an estimated illumination component value of 0 to a reference value to the maximum value of the corrected estimated illumination component, and converts the estimated illumination component larger than the reference value so that the value of the corrected estimated illumination component is larger than the value of the estimated illumination component.
