<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb structure where filling of a sealing material paste for sealing a cell is easily carried out; the cell cracks and the like are unlikely to occur; and the aperture ratio is high. <P>SOLUTION: The honeycomb structure includes a ceramic block composed of a honeycomb burned substance where a large number of cells are disposed in parallel in a longitudinal direction separated from a cell wall and where an outer peripheral wall is formed on the outer periphery thereof. The cells include: an outer peripheral cell adjacent to the outer peripheral wall of the honeycomb burned substance comprising the outer periphery of the ceramic block; and a basic cell disposed inside from the outer peripheral cell. The outer peripheral cell includes a deformation cell whose shape of the cross section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction is different from that of the basic cell. The deformation cell is the cell in which a circle of 0.90 mm in diameter could be inserted inside the shape of the cross section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
