A gas blowing cellulose pulp dryer (1) is operative for drying a web (14) of cellulose pulp by means of gas supplied from gas outlets (24) of blow boxes (22, 26) of a first drying section (5). The cellulose pulp dryer (1) comprises an inspection device (52, 152) having at least a first radiation sensor (35, 135) arranged to detect reflected radiation at the first drying section (5) to detect at least one of a position of the web (14) during operation of the dryer (1), and the occurrence of any residue (48) of the web (14).
