In an axle-box of the roller bearing type, the body comprises a pair of shells A, A1 which are held together by annular covers E, F, each of which has a tapered inner periphery engaging a complementary tapered outer periphery on the shells A, A1. The cover E is mounted on a spindle head C, the cover F is indirectly mounted on a spindle G, and seals are provided between the covers E, F and the body. The central aperture of the spindle head C may be closed by fitting a cap D therein, which may be made from synthetic plastics material. The size and shape of the covers E and F may be identical so as to facilitate manufacture thereof. |
