<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce energy consumption by activating a heater that is operatively connected to a printhead that ejects ink having a single color in response to receipt of a print job of a printer having multiple printheads compatible with solid phase change inks with different colors. <P>SOLUTION: The printer detects the presence of colors other than the single color in image data received in the print job, and activates heaters operatively coupled to printheads that eject ink drops that correspond to the detected colors. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
