NONAQUEOUS ELECTROLYTE SECONDARY BATTERY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery offering excellent durability such as cycle characteristics and storage characteristics, and to provide a nonaqueous electrolyte and a negative electrode active material excellent for the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery.

SOLUTION: The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises: a nonaqueous electrolyte containing a lithium salt and a nonaqueous solvent capable of dissolving the same; and a negative electrode and a positive electrode capable of intercalating and releasing lithium ions. The negative electrode contains a negative electrode active material comprising graphite particles in which the percentage of rhombohedral crystals is in the range of 0 to 35%, and the nonaqueous electrolyte contains a compound represented by the formula (1).
